Charles William Linge was born in 1897 in Ketford, Norfolk (Thetford Q2-1897 4B:383), son of Charles William and Ellen LINGE (née BROWN).
1901 census...Aged 4 he was at Greenland Cottages, Culford with his father Charles William BROWN [29] warrener, born Ketford, Norfolk; his mother Ellen [30] born Ketford and sister Ethel M [5] born Elveden. 1911 census...Aged 14, a farm labourer, he was at Seven Hills, Ingham with his parents and sister Ethel. On his pension card his parents were at 35 Elveden, but after his fsther died, his mother moved to 66 Cross Road |

He enlisted in Bury St Edmunds.
He died at 14th Stationary Hospital, Wimereux. It is not known what caused his death, illness or wounds. The battalion had been in billets in France earlier in April and then marched from Dranoutre to Poperinge in Belgium on 12th April
